Inks Lake State Park
Yes, God takes care of fools...
Allow me to once again welcome readers to the Car Camping Texan page. Just to be sure no one thinks I’m holding myself out as an expert car camper or a perfect Christian, please take notice: I am neither!
What I am is a 61-year-old single man who lives in Texas and needed a diversion from boredom and earthly desires.
However, I am pumped about my upcoming Memorial Day Weekend solo campout plan at Inks Lake State Park. For once, not knowing what I was doing, I managed to reserve a campsite which turns out to be highly sought-after real estate. I got lucky—or more precisely, God takes care of fools.
Beating the Texas Heat
Additionally, six miles away is Longhorn Cavern State Park. It features a cool cavern with “Spectacular Geological Features” (which I assume means it sparkles a lot!). Today I booked a 1.5-hour underground tour to enjoy that sweet, consistent 68-degree year-round temperature. Even with thunderstorms in the forecast, I’m looking forward to this three-day weekend.
Back to my being a gently used mature male who is thoroughly and physically broken… I don’t have lots of energy at times, but I do have a deep tradition of Texas stubbornness to finish what I’ve started. Between the cavern and the hiking trails, I’m ready to step back from the pressures of pre-retirement life and take in the wonders of God.
Did I mention that, as of this moment, there is NOT a burn ban? campfire time!
